Educational Curators

"We can't consider which texts to teach without also considering the students in our classroom who are reading them"  (Garcia & O'Donnell-Allen, 92)     Chapter 5 highlights the importance of teachers acting as curators in order to provide culturally proactive reading options to students from diverse backgrounds. Key components of teachers as curators: ·       disrupting traditional curriculum ·       fostering students' choice in reading ·       pushing students to work past challenges that arise when reading ·       mirroring your own passion for reading to shine through your role as an educator.
